OUR STORY begins with 2 golf buddies daydreaming in VIRGINIA…

Following his law school years at the University of Georgia, CRAFTED SUPPLY founder McLain Leberte decided to go work for a buddy who had started a reclaimed wood millwork company in Richmond VA. While he was there, he learned a lot about the specialty buildings materials world and actually got his hands dirty a few times with the manufacturing process.

After a few years in Richmond working for one manufacturer, he developed a strong desire to expand that business into other markets and also wanted to be able to sell a much wider array of high quality building products. He saw first hand how selling directly from one manufacturer really limited him as a sales person because he was beholden to one product line and one product schedule, even when it wasn’t the best fit for the customer. As a salesperson, he wanted to be able to offer his customer a varied product range for every type of project, budget and timeline and he began to envision the type of company and platform that he needed to do that.

Around that time, McLain met Alan Vaughn through a mutual friend on the golf course. Over the following months, Alan and McLain became good friends and they started brainstorming different business ideas and opportunities together while playing golf. Alan was an older friend with an extensive business background whose opinions McLain respected. He encouraged McLain to come up with a business plan that would reach the goals he was hoping to achieve via his new multi-manufacturer, sales model. So McLain sat down and designed an integrated master plan for this new venture.

In so doing, he developed and fine tuned the idea of marketing a portfolio of curated, luxury building products, from the highest quality manufacturers to share with the best architects, builders, and interior designers in the Southeast. With his plan in hand and the encouragement of Alan, McLain moved to Atlanta in 2019 and founded CRAFTED SUPPLY COMPANY.

From the outset, McLain didn’t want to market to homeowners directly, but instead created a direct B2B sales channel, since builders, architects and interior designers have a constant stream of jobs they are working through and they would also appreciate the level of quality products and expertise offered by CRAFTED SUPPLY.

Early on, he was able to create strong relationships with top manufacturers and vendors in the world. He made introductions for them and helped them solve sales, marketing and distribution issues they were facing. One of the biggest steps for CRAFTED SUPPLY was becoming a dealer for BROMBAL Doors and Windows out of Italy. BROMBAL is known in the industry as being the finest steel door and window system in the world. Alan and McLain also spent a lot of time early on traveling through very obscure and “off the beaten path” places in Appalachia looking for high quality craftsmen that they could represent in Atlanta and the rest of the Southeast.

They discovered a world of quality craftsmen who make beautiful flooring, cabinets, interior doors, and millwork. And while they are amazing at making their products they aren’t usually set up to reach the segment of the market on which CRAFTED SUPPLY became laser focused – the top tier architects, builders, interior designers and homeowners. CRAFTED’s value proposition to these talented folks is that their products are now used in bigger projects and larger markets like Atlanta, Charleston, Nashville/Knoxville, and the Florida Panhandle. And CRAFTED SUPPLY’s fully integrated team also handles all of the billing, scheduling, logistics, customer service and install issues that these artisans don’t want to deal with. Our process frees these folks up to focus on what they’re good at and what they enjoy – producing the highest quality building products materials in the country.

Teaming with the best manufacturers and these gifted talents ensures craftsmanship is always our first company value. Not only because it is the primary characteristic of these partners, but also because it represents our spirit as a company. Everyday we strive to be an expert in our field, take pride in our work, and value quality above all else.

Our top priority at the company is relationships with our customers. Our goal and motto is that we want to be “Trusted Advisors” for our customers, so that we are more than just a building products provider. Our customers come to us for advice, answers and expertise, and we help them find solutions to a number of key questions that arise on their projects. We really act more as a consultant than we do a typical materials suppler or sub-contractor.

As we’ve grown and expanded our team, we’ve worked on more and more jobs all over the southeast and our reach is now much further than Georgia. Our primary focus is a five hour radius around Atlanta which covers Gulf Coast Florida, Birmingham, Nashville, Charlotte, Highlands/Cashiers area, Charleston, and Jacksonville. We’ve worked in over 20 states and are now consistently sourcing and sending materials overseas as well.

At Crafted our culture is the most important thing to me. How we treat our customers, our work ethic, how we treat one another what matters is how we get it done and doing it the right way. I grew up in Huntsville Alabama. Played college golf at the University of South Alabama. After college went into the Marine Corps and from there went to Law School at UGA. Decided I wanted to pursue business instead of law so got into millwork and reclaimed materials. Happily married with 2 young boys and a great dog. I love spending time at the Lake, hunting, spearfishing, coaching youth sports, and active at our church Christ Covenant.

With over two decades of construction experience, Les Vogel knows a thing or two about managing quality projects efficiently. As Operations Manager at Crafted Supply, Les dedicates his time to ensuring all projects are delivered and installed on-schedule while upholding the company’s high standards. With his wealth of knowledge and hands-on approach, Les is instrumental in making sure Crafted Supply continues to build success. When he’s not overseeing operations, you can find Les spending quality time with his wife and boys, watching Alabama football, or out hunting and relaxing at their cabin.

Jordan Mpofu

Thriving in details and organization, Jordan uses her expertise to support the Crafted Supply team in accounting and managing projects. After an eight-year ministry career discipling students, she made the leap to construction at a commercial roofing company in 2021. When she’s not at work, you can find her soaking up the sunshine outdoors or exploring new places with her husband and dog.
